Today we mark the fiftieth anniversary of the Blood Raider depopulation of Anath V. Anath V is a storm planet known for an unusual population of indigenous wildlife colloquially named “Sefrim’s Veil” floating through its tulmultous skies. Killed during the attack were many colonists, administrators, soldiers, gas miners and their families, including Tertius Ausonius Bathana, a noted archeologist from Hedion University, known for his study of the ancient Takhmal and his quixotic pursuit of the Ametat and Avetat, and his Ni-Kunni wife Mairi Beaumonte, the-then heir to a Ni-Kunni trading clan. Perhaps the most famous survivor of the attack is the couple’s then four year daughter, now known by the call-sign of Lunarisse Aspenstar of the loyalist capsuleer alliance Khimi Harar, who later came to maturity on Mishi IV in the care of her mother’s extended family
Today, as Privy Council continues to deliberate on, among other things, the “Fabai Claim” by the Kingdom in the wake of another round of attacks, this time on Anath II and Anath IV, it is important to reflect that terrible as those attacks were, it is one of many over the decades in this long-struggling region by the Blood Raider heretics and their progeny, notwithstanding the tireless vigil of Kador security forces and the Imperial Navy’s 7th Fleet. In light of the concerns about ‘Kingdom’ outsiders pressing a claim, such as in the Amici Curiae, mayhap the canny King might wish to consider an alternative approach, suggesting that his Ni-Kunni wife, Queen Zidarez Khanid a daughter of Mishi IV, come home to be named a Regent (dare we suggest, Heir) for the Fabai Constellation or the Aridia region, the region of the Ni-Kunni homeworld?
